Trello – The Organizational Key To Keeping Your Sanity

If you haven’t given Trello a look, now might be the time. I can honestly say that it has organized by business & personal life by eliminating all those scrap pieces of paper with half finished to-do lists scattered across my desk.

For those of you who are not familiar with Trello, a single Trello board is a list of lists filled with individual tasks used by you or shared with an entire team. Trello boards can be created for business life, personal life, or project life and each will have it’s own place on your dashboard. As previously mentioned, within each board is a list and within each of those lists are tasks. Each task can be assigned to specific users within the board, can be commented on, attachments can be uploaded, checklists can be added, and due dates can be assigned to name a few of the features.

But back to those scattered half finished to-do lists scattered all over your desk. What happens when you don’t completely finish the to-do list? You have to re-write it on your next days to do list. Not with Trello. Trello keeps your to-do lists in line and always up to date. Once you are finished with one of these tasks, simply drag and drop it from the to-do list, to the done list. It’s simple. That is actually Trello’s goal, they have no plan to add in crazy features, or complex functionality. Their mission is to make the platform very intuitive and they’ve achieved just that.

All of your boards will have their own unique privacy settings. Keep them to yourself, share them with the public, or share them with authorized team members.

How We Use It

I’ve been using Trello since early 2013, both for Bold City Agency and personally to keep my own life organized. While there are lots of other alternatives out there and you may have your own favorite, the simplicity of Trello really drove me to use it. Don’t get me wrong, I love features and the project management systems on the market (BaseCamp, RedBooth, Asana, etc.) are all packed with plenty of them. But for day to day tasks where time is almost always my worst enemy, the ease of Trello is a huge plus.
