Welcome to Bold City Agency: Northeast Florida’s most prestigious web design, development & marketing agency. With the launch of our new site, we wanted our first blog post to be about our absolute favorite CMS platform on the planet:
WORDPRESS
Everybody has their own opinion on WordPress, most love it, a few hate it, and a few just hate CMS systems in general. But stats don’t lie. WordPress currently owns over 60% of the CMS market share with the second place finisher, Joomla, owning about 15%. WordPress for most people, ROCKS!
Once you learn the ins and outs of WordPress, it is by far the most intuitive CMS platform in my opinion and the available hooks and complex websites we can built on the platform continue to amaze us.
With that said, on to the real reason for this article: Our Favorite WordPress Plugins
The WordPress community is unlike anything else. The amount of plugins that have been developed is probably in the hundreds of thousands and while we try to limit our use of plugins to as few as possible (many times even writing our own), there are a few plugins that our involved in 90% of the websites we set up, here they are:
Advanced Custom Fields Pro
Wow, what a game changer when this came out. We’ve been using ACF since day one and with the new release of ACF 5, we’ve just kept on rolling with it. Being able to create custom fields for different post types, page templates, etc. is amazing and then connecting them with relationships just takes it to the moon. View ACF
Gravity Forms & Addons
Contact Form 7 used to be all the rage, until you become a serious WordPress developer and realize that a $200 Gravity Forms developer license pays for itself within a week with all the time it saves. This plugin is a true BEAST when it comes to creating forms. If Bold City developed your website, you can almost guarantee Gravity Forms was apart of it. View Gravity Forms
Yoast SEO
Yep, gotta have it! Every WordPress site needs a good SEO plugin and there’s a true leader in this department, Yoast. It’s got it all wrapped into one, Meta title, descriptions, XML sitemaps, I could go on and on. Fact of the matter is, there’s a reason it’s been downloaded 14.5 million times (at time of this post). Best of all, the basic version is free! View Plugin on WordPress
